Pretty sad if this took you 4-5 hours.. You got the tutorial from andrew kramer from videocopilot... should take about 30 mins max

@NathanCipher yea optical flares is how i would do it for sure. 3d layer occlusion is great =] I know KLF has a plugin to do that now too, but I really think Optical Flares looks better, has a better interface, and its cheaper too!

2°: it doesn't take 4-5 to make it (max. 30 min.)

How did you do that sun glow behind the earth?
I have a project on wich I intend to make someone fly, and as this person flyes, with his back to the camera, I wanted to put some sunlight glow around the head, like it was blocking the sun. I think it would be a nice effect and would bring more realism to the scene.

all i did was make a duplicate of the earth it self and cranked up the contrast and colour settings till the details were no longer there, and i also added a little radial glow to it.. hope that helps.

i made it stop spinning it takes up to much ram on my computer, so to make things faster i turned of some of the stuff at the end.
