  • That's probably the best clarity I've ever seen of this promo, you have any of the "We're 4 Today" spots from '83?

  • Did they do a network affiliation switch?

  • @ringtailedfox Actually, it was 1995 this all started, but you're right ringtailedfox. NBC was the HIT from 1982-2000.

  • @kbirdusa I still don't like the combo, but I thank you for clearing that up. Apologies to you, BZ, and maybe you'll get sold and released. Thanks again, kbirdusa.

  • @mr2del WBZ didn't "opt" to go along with any merger. That decision was made at the corporate level and part of that deal was for the Westinghouse stations that were not already affiliated with CBS to switch. WBZ had no choice in the matter.

  • @CelesteK they switched from NBC to CBS in 1996, when their owner, Group W Broadcasting (and their Owner, the Westinghouse Corporation) were bought by CBS. It's now a CBS owned-and-operated station, and while it still gets respectable ratings, it can't compare with the ratings NBC pulled in from 1982-2000.

  • @CelesteK Not untill the mid 1990's. That is...WJZ in Baltimore got the shaft when ABC affliated with lower-rated WMAR-TV. So...Westinghouse as a safeguard made the non-CBS stations (KYW and WBZ) into CBS afflilates. They also got KCNC and WTVJ's former channel 4 facility. KDKA and KPIX were aready CBS at this time.

  • An era truly ended when BZ opted to go along with the CBS-Westinghouse merger. This is just 1 of the now memories of BZ. No offense to those who love BZ, but I certainly hope one day that CBS does decide to sell it to NBC.

  • @SurfingTrucker Tell me about it. Old school WBZ outweighs today's hat, hands down!!

  • :49 Good to see local boy Tom Bergeron!
