So if you are a mom or a dad and you have your daughter in ballet I strongly recomend to take her with the orthopedist before start en pointe, also you should check how well prepared is teacher, many bad teachers put the girls en pointe early looking for quick results... It's more important to have to let the student develop. Besides girls love fancy shoes and stuff like that but a girl with damaged feet won't have the confidence to wear sandals or get a pedi.

Hi I'm a dancer who recently got a job as a teacher in a ballet academy I usually teach boys but this year I got a group of girls, very young but all of them have their feet severely damaged because dancing en pointe too early, the bones are out of place, there is one girl who had danced en pointe for years but she dosn't know how to tie her ribbons properly and there is other who is going to need surgery cause her feet are very damaged

@bunnybroadcast I'm 20 and I got my first pointe shoes last week ;) I started ballet when I was 18 and it was an on and off thing too until the recent 8 months when I got really dedicated then my teacher gave me the go ahead :) me too! although there is no ballet in my prospective career but I love every single bit of ballet and I'm having the best time. my first pointe class is next week! how was your first pointe class?
@ballamac yeah, I started when I was four, and got my shoes at fourteen. I am personally very much against girls starting pointe younger than 12 no matter how much training they've had. You just usually aren't strong enough until then, and pointe is also about maturity level. Can you take it seriously? There are a bunch of girls I know who started at 10/11 and even 12 who mess around on pointe and are just asking to get hurt. older=better in my opinion :)

not only do they look too young, but my teacher always says that the best pointework warmup is just simple rises and releves in parallel, first, second and fifth position and some echappes?
