@MvPxBlackHawk - red shift in light from distant galaxies is from Doppler shift, which is a "pitch shift" of the light. In the case of very fast moving things relativity starts to be important in the Doppler shift, but there is still Doppler shift of light frequencies at low speeds. That's how a (primitive! :-) radar speed gun works - the radio waves (which are just low frequency light) get bounced back with a frequency shift that depends on the relative speed of the car and the gun.

@meatisdeliciouse - speed of light is about 186,000 miles per second, so a few hundred miles per second is still small beans compared to the speed of light. Most meteorites hit Earth's atmosphere at around 10-50 miles per second.
