This short documentary was my first assignment at Northumbria University. The job was to gain first hand experience in operating as part of a film crew. The documentary was filmed in Hebden Bridge, near Halifax, focusing on the rare sensory condition known as synethsesia. You can thank me for the shoddy camera work =)

Adam Gilroy - Film Writer / Producer
Kiara Michellini - Director
Chris Andrew - Camera Operator
Ryan Forde - Sound Technician
Dean Cuthbert - Film Editor

- Sorry but the film seems to be out of sync, its not on the DVD, I'm not sure why it's done that. Might be something to do with the upload. Hmm.

  • i would love the experience the visuals from music. a bit like taking an acid i presume. the positive side of it seems amazing, but the negative side would be a pain in the arse

  • She did say the negative effects the condition had on her were amplified with emotion, when she was upset for instance. But she also said that she wouldn't change it for anything. I believe that when she found out about it, it really improved the way she looked at and lived her life.

  • Good - Progression, Length & pace, combination of interior and exterior locations, resisting using whacky colours all over the place.

Not so good - would like to have had a name to relate to for "subject" she reveals a lot of personal stuff - Chris Andrews with an "S" in credits

    Well done all

    Michael

  • Aye well the film was supposed to be designed as a 'day in the life of' piece and we were going to use visual effects to try and simulate her sensory experiences. If the film had been like that though, it would have conflicted with the brief, as it was meant to be about the subject; the woman in the film. The name 'Under an Orange Sky' was chosen to portray how different her perspective on life is, not that she see's the sky as orange...

  • As for our good old family name... yeah I played hell with the editor for that little gem...

  • Looks awesome Chris. Great work.

    A+!!!

  • lol cheers, yeah the moyles sign was to have their restaraunt advertised cos they let us do those indoor shots there.

  • Brilliant! Nothing to rave about? It's good enough to put on the regional news! Good camera work man. I remember you teling me about the shot with the Moyles sign. Interesting stuff.
