Dale Earnhardt clinches his record-tying 7th Winston Cup Championship in style by winning the AC-Delco 500 at Rockingham Speedway. TNN with the call.

Sorry for the poor quality, pulled off an old videotape and grabbed from my website at racingforthewin.com

  • I have no doubt in my mind that if Dale had not passed in 2001 he would have won that 8th championship.

  • @ThomasJowers0 I have no doubt in my mind that if Tim Richmond, Rob Moroso, Alan Kulwicki and Davey Allison didn't pass, Earnhardt wouldn't have won more than four. I'm just saying... a lot of great drivers' deaths contributed greatly to Earnhardt's feats.

  • the best driver that ever lived

  • Dale Earnhardt should've only had 6 championships but NASCAR literally gave one to him in 1990. They screwed Mark Martin that year by a ridiculous penalty. Then at Charlotte Dale's crew pitted the car in turn one after his left-side tires came off. There were crystal clear rules that should've prevented it and they didn't get a penalty.

  • @braves15 oh, no wonder he was helping him!

  • @vidEvWill Mast was a lap down at Talladega in '91. But you're right, he did come close to some wins, particularly in '94. I remember him finishing third at Michigan on the weekend of Ernie Irvan's crash, and it looked like he was going to win that one.

  • mast came close to a couple victories, he cold have easily passed Harry Gant in 1991 at Talladega but they were de facto teammates but that was the easiest win he could have had.

  • NASCAR's greatest driver and champion...RIP
