and yeah DM was an awesome album, went to see them in febuary and it was just freakin awesome

The old metallica i find wasn't as good until Master of puppets. I found in that album there were much better solos. Probably, for whom the bell tolls, ride the lightning, Fade to black, and Hit the lights, are the only "old" metallica i listen to these days.
Death magnetic was awesome comeback though. Best one since Black Album.

everyone wants the old metallica....it seems that is all you hear. no one is ever going to get the "old metallica" back as you call them. shut up, enjoy the new material along with the old stuff you guys like so much. these guys set the bar for rock bands a LONG time ago and they are still the kings...no metal band has had the staying power of metallica.
