PLEASE SHARE!! But wait...Yewww!...where is that smell coming from?
Check out this Google Map aerial view of Port Dalhousie harbour:https://www.facebook.com/groups/183257588404363/ Port Dalhousie is home to a sewage filtration plant that serves the City of St. Catharines, and it's right across the street from the proposed "Port Place" building site. Although cleverly disguised by a wooded berm at eye level, the owners of the Port Place "luxury" condo would surely get an eyeful from the upper floors. You just can't pay too much for toilet water views! I wonder if the PDVC is leaving itself open to legal action for not disclosing the existence of this liability to the new owners.
In this video, my vector drawings are interwoven with live shots of the identical locations. Many of the commercial buildings in the heritage core of Port Dalhousie, Ontario, Canada are scheduled for demolition. These century-old buildings, and non-heritage buildings add an authentic 19th century ambiance to Port Dalhousie that will be destroyed by the condo. PLEASE SHARE!!

  • Nice work Robert

  • @twistedwired I am not a videographer...all I had was my little Canon Powershot on a rickety tripod. But like you, I felt compelled to have a record should the worst possible scenario come about!

  • The two videos have been watched 1,100 times in Canada, U.S.A., England, Spain, Saudi Arabia, India, Israel, Brazil, Pakistan, Colombia, Peru, Turkey, The Netherlands, Germany, Bangladesh, Costa Rica, Japan and Kazakhstan. I think one of Port Dalhousie's dirty little secrets is out! But the big majority of views is within Canada, amongst men and women in the 45-54 years age group. Perfect!

  • @mizz100 At least you aren't being rude like most tower supporters, so I will offer ONE response. You set up a false argument, that the well-being of Port Dalhousie depends solely on this one single project. This is just nonsense. The citizens of Port Dalhousie would welcome with open arms any developmental idea that was both in scale with the village and in keeping with its maritime heritage. Obviously, the 200 foot tall Port Place condo is neither. I would love to see a new plan.

  • Oh, another rich one! The PDVC has marketed the Port Place condominiums as a deterrent to the drunken rowdiness of Port Dalhousie nights, but they are applying for three more liquor licenses (Flip Flops and the two levels of the pizza joint on Lockport.) You have to wonder if there is any relationship between this latest ploy and the recent ILLEGAL political campaign contributions by the PDVC to local politicians.

  • I will be drawing the candy show this fall :)

  • Loved the place. Mr pizza. Great pizza. Can't wait to go again.

  • How about something like Honfleur in Normandy France which has kept it's character since the fifteenth century.Build something that replicats that old port stye....Honfleur has a carousel too and has attracted painters and all artists for centuries with inspiration and inlightment of a rennausance age.

  • Regarding the pro-tower comment made by mitzz100. First of all, someone should not be on YouTube commenting about the economic viability of a place they cannot even spell (Port Dalhousie not Port Delhoussie and St. Catharines, not St. Catherines). Secondly, if it is such a great idea maybe you or someone you know may be interested in a brand new Port Dalhousie Luxury Condo! May I suggest something on the east side?

  • As of right now Port Delhoussie is underdeveloped, instead of being a modern port with real charm. This place has real potential and Port Place is a great idea, not to mention the economic benefits it will bring to St. Catherines. I was there last summer and it would be a shame if it turned into a ghost town, when it deserves to be vibrant through out the whole year!!!! The development project should be supported by everyone it is an awesome idea.
