Check also my video of Ville Leino as a Philadelphia Flyer. NHL skilled forward Ville Leino of the Buffalo Sabres, formerly of the Philadelphia Flyers and Detroit Red Wings, during the pre-game warm-up / practice at ScotiaBank Place in Ottawa on November 5, 2011 (Sabres @ Senators 11/5/11). Un-drafted, the native of Savonlinna, Finland signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings in May 2008. On January 31, 2009, Leino scored his first NHL goal in the first period of his first NHL game against Washington. However, due to the Red Wings' salary cap issues, Leino was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in February 2010 in exchange for Norwegian defenseman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen and a 5th round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. In July 2011, Leino signed a massive 6-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres
