A song for our little friends who could never go home.
This song is available for download at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/greyfoo
(also iTunes, etc -- just search for Greyfoo)
Chronologically, this is my second WoW-song, first written in 2006 as a response to a "Now make a Gnome song!" request after I began singing "The Pally DPS Song" on Vent... while we were corpse-running back to AQ40, or swimming to Onyxia's lair. Ah, those halcyon days of Classic WoW.
It's been hanging around all this time, making the occasional ventrilo appearance, while I waited for the day I'd have the (musical) capability to do it some justice as a recording. It is fitting then, that this is the first song I've recorded entirely in Logic Pro, and I'm very happy with the end result.
The song was also recorded with a horrible chest cold, wtb less hacking coughs between vocal takes please. The movie was produced using FRAPS, WoW Model Viewer, lots of in-game footage, and Sony Vegas Pro. I love Sony Vegas Pro.
I originally intended to leave 'No Place Like Gnome' until after I'd got the website and MPEGs etc arranged, but the announcement of 'Operation Gnomeragan' and the immence of Cataclysm's er, cataclysmic changes to the old world sent me scrambling to get this done, before it would lose it's meaning.
Thanks again for watching,
And so it began
I lost my home in Gnomeragan
The Dwarves saved us from doom
But I miss my spa, and theatre room
I should be grateful but I feel bleak
You try living with a Dwarf all week
It's blah-blah-stoneform, and lukewarm beer
I've gotta get my hearth outta here
(but) Stormwind is cold
Ironforge is getting old, and
I got no friends in Cenarion Hold,
What's a Gnome to do?
But walk the world, and feel so blue?
There's no place like Gnome,
There's no place like Gnome
Down Darnassus way
The Nightelves live in Nature's grace
I stay at Dolonaar,
watch the beautiful women
Dance on the bar
But that's not for me, not me
New-Age music, and herbal tea
Aint the life for an honest Gnome
So back into the wild I roam
I did a stint in Gadgetzan
But it smells like Goblins
And I don't like sand
Southshore's pretty, by the sea
But you can't get no sleep with all the PvP
Goldshire, Lakeshire, Darkshire, no sire
Not the place for me
And Booty Bay, so far away
From anywhere you'd wanna be
Verse: AMaj7 - Em
Prechorus: D - Am
Chorus: EMaj - B#m // AMaj - Em // B7(rootE), Em, EMaj.
Bridge: BMaj - F#m // B7(rootE) for the 'pause'
then chorus reprise.
Postscript: this is the second upload of this movie. I'd like to thank TheRealMaxion for pointing out a stupid typo (now fixed) I'd made before too many other people had seen it.
