This is Griffey's first at bat in Seattle since he was traded to the Reds. During his intro, "Hip Hop Hooray" played over the PA, which was his theme song in Seattle. Mariners pitcher Ryan Feierabend threw to first base twice to hold the runner, evoking boos from the hometown fans. Griffey ended up getting a single.
