How to clean up EVPs

I've tried using Audacity to edit EVP recordings on Windows 7. I find it too clunky, too much of a resource hog, and generally unreliable in terms of compatibility. I've always had that problem with Audacity regardless of the version of Windows it's on, even with a clean install of the operating system. Wavepad on the other hand, the free version? Total improvement. It's light, it's easier to use, and there's not so much to work around in the interface. The scrolling is better too.

@screamfreak79 thats like using a cook book that tells you to use chicken in chicken noodle soup, along with the chef telling you to do so as well,
then a busser tells you not to. who would you listen too? the cook book and chef or the busser
to me lisa seems to be doing just what the pros do
makeing you the busser

@Hito2 Because you are manipulating the original recording. Just because the ghost hunters do doesn't mean its the right thing to do. This clip is a perfect example of that. Any recording that is manipulated loses its credibility because its not the original recording. Ghost Adventures over enhance their EVP's all of the time. It really opens the door for misanalysis and periodolia. It does a lot more than just get rid of static.

@screamfreak79 All noise removal dose is get rid of the static I don't see how it could create false anomalies
besides
most or all ghost hunting books/ T.V. shows
do this same procedure

Thanks so much for doing this. (And for cleaning up my Jonesborough EVP's ;) I use Audacity, and basically knew how to normalize and amplify - so the noise reduction will be the tip I need. Take care, Tam
Nice tutorial. I wouldn't recommend using noise removal because ultimately it can damage the quality and credibility of your evp. Noise reduction can also produce false anomalies. Good video though.
