Richmond Christmas Parade
The 28th annual Dominion/Richmond Christmas parade took place Saturday, December 03.
VBS employees and family volunteered to ride and walk the 2.3 mile parade route which started at the Science Museum of Virginia and continued to 7th street downtown.
Featuring Santa's sleigh receiving an oil change, this year's float supported the relationship between VBS and MIDAS of Richmond helping promote the MIDAS of Richmond blood drives happening that day.
Many spectators were treated by the sight of two MIDAS mechanics hard at work to change Santa's oil before a long night of delivering presents. In addition, crowds listened to MIDAS and VBS commercials advocating the importance of blood donation over the holidays as the float passed by.
A noted highlight of the VBS group was Buddy the Blood Drop, worn by William Claiborne. During the parade Buddy could be seen drawing children out of the crowd for a quick hug or high five giving added fame to the already popular mascot.
