FF9PGWSF 33 - Defending Cleyra

Items Obtained: Elixir, Nymph Card, Zuu Card, Phoenix Pinion, Ether, Remedy, Phoenix Down

Steals and Spoils: Ore, Ether, Hi-Potion, Ore

Each villager that you save will give you a reward, and as part of a perfect game all of those rewards must be obtained. Besides, if you tell them to go the wrong way I think there are actually more battles to fight, which is not good. These battles are hard enough.

Vivi has 40 MP left, and if I could manage just using Zidane and Freya against the Alexandrian Soliders that would leave me with 5 Stops to use before needing an Ether. I think 5 Stops should be a good aim anyway, and with this run I only needed 4.

I had an exta problem to worry about this time, Zidane was about to trance. If he tranced after I had already entered an attack command he would perform a more powerful attack and kill an Alexandrian Soldier, not good. I had an extremely good run where all the mages went down with 1 Stop that was ruined in the last fight by this very thing.

The guide claims that Zidane is invincible with his current set up. As you can see in the second battle, it would seem that this is not quite the case. He usually survives most attacks though. The second battle wasn't great, but I was wanting 2 things: 1. To Stop the black mage last so that I would get the AP, and 2. For Zidane to steal an Ore. As you can see this turned into a problem when he got KOed, but it all worked out, and fortunately the first Stop worked so I didn't need to use another Tent. My want to steal an Ore will become clear when I go down the Iifa Tree, and again in early disc 3.

Quina masters Add Status.

Since Vivi only had 8 MP left and I didn't want to use an Ether unless I had to, I was going to have at least 2 rounds with the last battle, which was enough time to put Quina's HP to 1. This way I don't have to rely on having a Phoenix Down do the job. And Quina was left with just enough MP to perform a Limit Glove.

All of the survivors give me a reward, which is the last of the 41 items to get in this area. I checked all of these videos repeatedly to make sure I got them all.

This is a tough part, so you should really strive to just finish it and then see if you want to improve your time afterwards. I recommend finishing this part with about 6 minutes to use in the final part with Beatrix and the red rose.

Also doing the auto life during the last fight is a pretty good idea, though not totally necessary.

I also recommend picking up the treasures and all that after saving as you have too much to loose by fumbling around at the end.

Uh I'm stuck here now. Your videos have been a great help to me. I had to restart my challenge because I missed the moogle suit and deleted my saves (dumb, I know). I've been following your movements pretty closely.
