SMALL BUSINESSES ALSO SUFFERED BUT HELP IS AVAILABLE

THE DEADLINE TO APPLY IS

JUNE 2010 TO SBA DISASTER

We can remember how so many families suffered loss on September 21, 2009 when the flood waters swept through Georgia and Cobb County. A group of us came together as Concerned Pastors, Elder, Ministers, Missionaries, Evangelist and Laity along with the Beacon of Hope to work with community. I attended a Prayer Breakfast on Saturday morning and Im still feasting off the message from Commissioner Sam Olens who reminded us of the importance of how important our work is in community, through the churches, the Pastors, organizations and leaders. Sometimes we get tired but the bible said dont get weary in well doing; dont faint, because He can mount us upon wings like an eagle. We shall run and not fall nor get weary in well doing. He will prosper us, as it is said in the book of Nehemiah. Sometime we have to tell ourselves hold on as worker in the vineyard, but help does come.

As we met today, February 25, 2010 at the hour of 10 AM, it went through my mind again as we rushed to the meeting making sure business owners were there knowing we are helper one to the other. We were welcomed into the house of the Small Business Administration to learn of help which is still available for small businesses who were affected by the disasters. Everyone left the meeting with knowledge and hope. Back in September we hosted many community meeting in the churches with strong support from SBA, GEMA, FEMA, The National flood teams, the Georgia State Insurance Commissioner office, supplying us with a team of experts who attended and worked with us in every meeting we held. At our first meeting in the community this man name John Jack Camp of SBA was always first to speak and I wondered why? To hear the words LOAN scared many people especially senior people, those on SSI, disability but we were assured Mary, trust us. Yet the need for assistant with a major disaster was there an to talk to people about loans they did not want to hear. Jack never quit, he was always there along with the other from the Federal Government and never late. He ate with us, bonded with us, taught the process and classes and little by little the process made sense. We listened then not knowing why or seeing the larger picture of just how many were affected by the disaster. Not seeing the disaster brought pain in every way shape form and fashion even to the schools, businesses, homes, home businesses called MOM and POP businesses, independent business owners it took a minute to understand, but he never quit.

After the flood came the earthquake in Haiti on January 11, 2010 happen. The disaster in Tennessee with the rock slide in February 2010. Many of the families we worked with in the flood, quite a few had businesses. Many had to relocated and help was needed. As we now also moved to helping with the call of Haitian families who had love ones to die in the earthquake in Haiti. Some of these families are among some of the families affected by the flood of September 21, 2009. So again we crossed each other path a second time with another disaster. Then it began to come together why Jack Camp rested so hard in our spirit and he couldnt give up, although we couldnt see the need to educate us with the loans. The business owners whom incomes suffered loss due to the flood was another part of the total picture in rebuilding community we would have to help. In the areas near the flood areas in the long run we would learn business who serviced moderate or heavily in those communities, there business would suffer hardships. Losses would come to the point that some have closed up shop. Many of us had never been learned in that area of disaster and how it affects those in the areas of the community. So here we are in February 2010 trying to help those businesses who are suffered losses or know of other businesses who suffered losses to stay in business...
