    You should be careful. Grades are relative.

    First, of course the final product isn't gold. The activity is to give a taste of European alchemy. Second, some writers suggest lead is the physical world and gold is a spiritual world- thus turning lead into gold is an allegory - but that would be based on writings from Chinese alchemists. The European and Arabian alchemists were different, with rich merchants being tricked out of money. Thus this activity.

  • That's not really gold, and you fail. Besides lead into Gold is an allegory.

  • @SuperBlackCocks Yes. Prior to 1982, pennies were mainly copper. Due to the increase in the prices of copper, pennies are now mainly zinc plated with copper.

  • is the difference in the coin this: the pre year ones have a larger amount of copper in them?
