Monica was the nicest player on tour.. She obviously got pissed that she missed so she hit the ball, just like everybody els does now days.. It was a accident

I totally get your point and you are right!! It is very easy to see that most of the posters here are huge fans of Seles. The chair was wrong for defaulting Rodionova and it looks like favortism. I can only imagine the nasty names that would be on this page if it was the other way around. I'm not saying any names, but if a particular #1 seed had of done what Seles did, we wouldn't hear the end of it- apology or not!!

I have the match, Seles didn't do it on purpose and Martinez was aware of that, as has been mentioned Seles put her hand up to apologise, she was frustrated at her own play.

that's where you're so wrong. She did hit that ball in anger/frustration and it could have hit Martinez or a line judge. She may have apologised, but that would be too late if it had hit somebody. Rodionova hit the wall in anger, just like Seles, but was defaulted. That's a double standard.

Wasnt a penalty because seles kept the ball in the court, if she whacked it into the crowd then she would have been warned/penalized.

not true. if it had hit martinez she could have been disqualified immediately as the shot was struck in anger. same if it had hit an official or ballboy (See Tim Henman, Wimbledon back in 1995)
