This is the Pipes and Drums of the 5th/6th Battalion, Royal Victoria Regiment, Australian Army Reserves. It is one of the few remaining Australian Army pipe bands. The tartan we wear is Gordon, as we have an affiliation with the Gordon Highlanders.

Here, we play the music for a March Out Parade for a promotions course I believe. The two tunes are 'Scotland the Brave' and 'Badge of Scotland'. I am the piper in the second rank, on the right.

  • Is this Watsonia/Macleod barracks?

I apologise if this question has been answered already.

  • This is Watsonia Simpson barracks.

  • 5/6 RVR are based at Sandringham arnt they?

  • One company is. 3 others are based across Melbourne.

  • for one of the few remaining pipebands you are really good.but why is the base drummer not wearing any scottish attire?

  • Our base drummer... was not available at the time. He's a fellow from the Army Band Melbourne who was kind enough to help the gents marching behind us to keep in step.

  • I always went traditional (and still do)! I remember some of the old timers telling me of the days that if you were caught 'wearing' ALL sorts of nasty things would happen to you!
