Went to the Kobe Bon Odori along the waterfront in Kobe this weekend. Kansaipj came out from Osaka to hang out and enjoy the festivities!

Bon Odori means "Bon Dance." It is a festivity that takes place in Japan every year. it is held during Obon お盆 . It is celebrated as a reminder of the gratefulness one should feel toward one's ancestors.

Each region of Japan has a respective local Bon dance, as well as different music accompanying the dance.

  • Japan For Some Reason Reminds Me Of My Visit To Mexico.

  • Interesting. i haven't been to Mexico yet! How is this festival similar?

  • The Festival That Are Held In Mexico Are Very Similar, Concessions Stands, Fireworks, Beer, Etc, Also How Long Are You Going To Be In Japan For?

  • Cool. Plan to stay a couple of years :) Then back to Canada...at least that's the plan!

  • Nice vid - wow Kobe is so convenient to Kyoto and Osaka.. It seems kinda crazy how easy it is for you to skip across to see those great cities all beside each other, and have beer with other YouTubers no less! I love how you put together the vid, and I have never seen bon odori before. And yes, I would get a cut from Welfare hair salon but only for a number 1 buzz cut... and I'd ask for a discount.

    Peace

  • Having a beer with other youtubers is great too! Hopefully I'll have the chance to meet some more soon! :)
