How smelly is the durian?

smells bad but tastes gooood

durian is the king of the fruit and it taste so great..
i am malaysian..most of the people in malaysia like to eat durian because it taste like heaven..

Actually, it really depends on the smells your nose are use to.

My American friend found it edible but tasted and smelt like rotten butter. Japanese and Korean can't stand the smell too.

We, southeast asians LOVE it! I mean most of us. it's like chilli, not everyone enjoys its spicy-ness.

he is not use to the durian smell...... and is used to the rotten egg,dog shit,sweaty shoe and vomit's smell?? that doesnt even make sense....

I come from Indonesia where durian is the most favorite fruit for Indonesian People.
We can put dozens of durian inside living room for hour and we love the smell..
I think you should try it with open minded.

I heard Durian has an unpleasant gasoline and sulfur smell, but this looks totally exaggerated! I can't imagine it being that bad smelling.
