Bottm Barrel Productions presents: The Banker our submission for YouTube's Project Direct, a story based on the economic troubles of our times. The story focuses on a family man, Mr. Albatross (Michael Zdanowski) who has found himself in tough position. His home is about to be taken away by the bank. Mr. Albatross has a life insurance policy, and decides the policy is the key to insure his family is saved.

Writers Notes:

In the past year prices have risen, property values have fallen and people have lost their jobs. This short movie was produced because of the many families out there that find themselves in a position where they can no longer afford their homes. Some people are fortunate enough while others turn to drastic measures to get themselves out of trouble.

The quote, "In the game of life, be sure to read the fine print" was written by Wojciech Kalembasa, Tomasz and Peter Wojtowicz

Mr. Albatross- The word Albatross is defined as a seemingly inescapable moral or emotional burden, as of guilt or responsibility.

Mr. Financier: The word Financier is defined as a person that conducts financial operations, often in an unethical manner.

wow, u completely missed the point of this short. He committed suicide by overdosing. When you overdose you don't die immediately you slip into a coma and often have a final dream before death. The scene with the banker is his final dream. The banker killing him is a metaphor.

i like this vid alot but the only flaw i see (and im not sying this to rip on anything) but a life insurance fund is void and wont be paid if the holder commits suicide....

that being said, its not a bad short.

well written, well shot, etc.

Thanks for watching. We did a lot of research on this subject. Many insurances companies do pay out even if you do commit suicide, but only after X amount of time. Hence our quote, "read the fine print"

Real life drama. This definitely reflects how greed and power motivates the minds of humans in our current day and age. Driving men to be emotionless, all for the root of evil. Plot, theme and underlined message. You guys did a great job in bringing a piece of dark America to the forefront. Keep up the great work.
