  • Thanks fhsiaop, I was only 7 when I lived there for 2 years, and I have very fond memories of the beach, and playing in the jungle. Nauru was the wealthiest nation in the world per head of population then, and now , sadly its very poor due to past corrupt Governments, and lack of income due to the phosphate almost running out. I believe there is now some new mining taking place, and I one day I'd love to return for a visit. The people are very friendly from what I remember too!

  • Thank you for sharing this with the world. I lived on Nauru between 77-79. I went to the secondary school before I came back to NZ for boarding school. Now in my 40's I think of Nauru often. I had some wonderful memories and am saddened by what has happend their. It must be awful for the Nauruan people, and even thou critcis blame them, at least we get to walk away. Were good like that.
