ACTA is one more offensive against the sharing of culture on the Internet. ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement) is an agreement secretly negotiated by a small "club" of like-minded countries (39 countries, including the 27 of the European Union, the United States, Japan, etc). Negotiated instead of being democratically debated, ACTA bypasses parliaments and international organizations to dictate a repressive logic dictated by the entertainment industries.

ACTA would impose new criminal sanctions forcing Internet actors to monitor and censor online communications. It is thus a major threat to freedom of expression online and creates legal uncertainty for Internet companies. In the name of trademarks and patents, it would also hamper access to generic medicines in poor countries.

  • I have some minor problems with some of the definitions in this video. However, I strongly oppose ANY attempt by ANY government to regulate the internet, and that is exactly what SOPA, PIPA and ACTA attempt to do.

  • @ravenslaves I will mirror anything you make with better facts.

  • If only you would post this vid under creative commons license, I could mirror it easily. I would love to mirror this vid..

  • @rollofnickles it wont accept me doing it :( But I got it with firefox pluging called download helper.

  • What it doesn't mention here is that ACTA is not a law. It is a trade agreement. ACTA changes the definition of "counterfeit" so that laws such as SOPA can be discussed, but it is not a law in itself.

  • 2012 the end of the internet

  • ACTA VS THE PEOPLE WE NEED TO BEAT THE SYSTEM

  • Thumbs up & FAVED!

  • This needs more views. Everyones trying to stop SOPA and PIPA but the ones about ACTA barely get any views.

  • @Vogter616 Oh no. Any problem I have with some of the wording is minor, small, not even worth mentioning, compared to the atrocity that these government attempts to controll the internet are. The politicans *hate* the internet, because they can't control it. SOPA, PIPA, ACTA have nothing to do with piracy, and everything to do with letting in the governments, so they can control the internet.

  • @Vogter616 We were ignored here in Nz, and as such we already have it. FML.

  • @Vogter616 Cool, I'll give it a go. Thanks
