No he does not know information in advance, he asks him to say the name of the dog, your muscles in your mouth move at that point, almost spelling it out. All you need to do is pick up on that (which is very hard but doable for Derren). I hate people who think its fake right from the start, go to a life show and be bowled over. He says he does not have supernatural powers, he uses techniques like cold reading
