  • Lets do this (and everything else) neutrally buoyant shall we? Then we can start taking PADI seriously.

  • He's a good instructor. He makes it clear that when you take your mask off there's no need to get anxious or agitated, as many do.

  • @Mutrino well as far as i have seen the most of padi divers master the neutrally boyant far more better than other divers on the same level. i have seen the NAUI, CMAS and ISS divers that souhld bee in the same level of training do it lot more worst than PADI divers. And one thing that clearly shows in PADI divers is that they dont flap there arms like they where flying under water like many others.

  • @ickytrip "My question was - Do we need to know how to remove our mask?"

Well, it's much better to remove the mask yourself than have it kicked away from your buddy, isn't it? ;-) Maybe that's the only reason why we need to know how to remove it. :)

  • @bluewavefilm - I read you - it is somewhat easy to lose your mask while diving. My question was - Do we need to know how to remove our mask? Will we ever purposefully remove our mask while diving (outside of the skill test for open water cert)? I am also kinda being a bit a smart ass. ;)

    PS - I love diving!

  • @ickytrip No, but in case you loose it (happens easier than many people think) you know you don't need to panic.

  • Are there circumstances when you're gonna want to take your mask off?

  • my dad joust taught me how to do this in our pool:p

  • This brings back bad memories for me I done an Open Water course in Thailand and passed somehow but I never was comfortable taking the mask off fully and clearing in the experience kind of put me off diving at all now

  • God! It was terrible to do this in a pool xD The chlorine burned in my nose when I breathed. Saltwater was much better though!

  • what means buoyant?

  • Where exactly do the standards require that this be performed neutrally buoyant?
