"awes" ? What does that mean in this context? The only use of "awes" I can think of is like this. "Jane awes John with her mathematical abilities."
Ignoring that word, adults I've spoken to who are under five feet tall would disagree with your assertion. I'm glad it doesn't matter to you, but many people are unkind, and there is the simple inconveniences of living in a world designed for taller people.
