India's Singing Legend... Keeps on Singing

Legendary Indian singer Asha Bhosle marked her 75th birthday by releasing a new album on Monday. Here's hear more on the story.

STORY:
Well known for her voice modulations and singing style, she released 'Precious Platinum' -- her new album -- to coincide with her birthday.

[Asha Bhosle, Indian Singer]:
"I take care of my voice. I practice daily and I sing your favorite songs. That is why people like me even today. I have sung songs... and you have liked them all. My new record is of a different genre all together, just listen to the songs, I am sure, you will love them."

Bhonsle has sung songs for hundreds of Indian films over the years. She continues to be one of India's favorite singers. Her fan following extends from six-year-olds to sixty-year-olds.

When asked how she manages to churn out such beautiful songs, even at her age, she says she still feels young at heart.

[Asha Bhosle, Indian Singer]:
"I don't feel it, it is the people who keep on reminding me about my age. They call me to wish me happy birthday; send me flowers, bouquets, cakes, it is they who feel that I have turned 75, and I am like, why do you have to remind me of that? I don't feel that old."

She is known as one of the most versatile singers in the Indian film industry. Her songs include film songs, pop numbers, as well as devotional, classical, folk, and regional songs in more than a dozen languages.
