Part 1 of 3

Mark and Willie's school project in which they each have mock marriages takes an interesting turn when Willie's lusting over Mark's wife turns ugly when he begins to pursue her. Meanwhile, David tries to best Sandy at everything from golf to tennis.

Originally broadcast as "Valerie's Family", this episode is the fourth episode of season three, as well as the fourth episode to feature Sandy Duncan as Sandy Hogan.

  • LOL, is it just me, or does it seem like damn near every 80s sitcom was set in Chicago?

  • Weird... someone just wrote almost the exact same comment on the first episode of Valerie's Family's page. "Why was it that every film/tv show made from '85 through about '91 took place in a suburb of Chicago?"

  • Were they all recorded with this long opening.

  • All but 2 or 3 from season five. Other than that, all episodes aired with the full 1:14 theme in their original broadcasts.

  • Dorothy is sleeping better, Blanche has lots of dates again, and Sandy Duncan is finally back on TV!!!!

  • Just like I remember - no acknowledgement of the fire that destroyed their house 1 week earlier. Everything's all fixed up and better! You'd think they'd at least have some workmen in the house doing the final repairs or something....

  • @blaqice88 And three of those four were Miller-Boyett productions. My guess is either (a) Chicago was an inexpensive place to film, much like Vancouver has been lately, or (b) either Mr. Miller or Mr. Boyett has a personal tie to Chicago, as with Milwaukee during the Miller-Milkis era.

  • @LongLiveOx Let's see: Perfect Strangers, Family Matters, The Hogan Family, Punky Brewster. That's just four shows set in Chicago.

  • miss this themesong.....'the hub' shows family ties, i am sure this will be back on tv soon:)

  • 0:28 - Hey Michael Hogan, calm down. It's not Game 7 of The Stanley Cup!

  • I completely forgot about this show until tonight when I heard Jason Bateman talk about it on the Daily Show. Kellie Martin is so young. Ha, I had limited exposure to tv in the late 80's and I guess this one slipped my mind - intro is familiar, though.

  • I always thought that the baseball whizzing towards the camera at the beginning was interesting, it looks like a 3-D effect.

  • I SAW IT ITS CALL STUNT DOUBLE
