@mikebeverly88 how will you be punished? You will not go to jail, you will not be fined. If you choose to have no insurance you will pay out of your own pocket. If you have a catastrophic ilness and can't pay you will decalre bankruptcy to protect your assets and everyone else will pay for you.

@imita01 "The government takes money and spends it on the well-being of its people." REALLY? Perhaps you've never heard of government bureaucracy. About 60% of what the fed takes for welfare NEVER makes it to the poor. That's why non-profit organizations are MUCH BETTER at helping the poor.
I'm not defending the fat-cats in the insurance industry, but are plenty of fat-cats in the federal government, too. Don't trust either of them!

@mikebeverly88..............the problem is that the insurance companies goal is to make the best decision for themselves by taking their consumers money and not spend it on insurance............the government takes taxes and spends it on the well being of it's people..........so the public option is the only option we ever had.........it's just been finally brought to the attention of the masses honestly.......why do you think insurance companies are spending so much to fight this....
