  • @TheAttilanemeth82 thank you so much for your most kind and interesting explanation... Coincidently, I am married to an hungarian, Kossuth...

  • Irene Zichy, née Baroness Irene Meskó of Széklak and Enyiczke (1823-79)

For his Ungarisch-Altenburg (today: Mosonmagyaróvár, Hungary) engagement Strauss had composed a Magyaren-Walzer (Magyar Waltz), which was dedicated "to an Hungarian count". All that is known is that the waltz which Johann took with him to Altenburg was later published as the Irenen-Walzer, and that it bore the dedication: "Most respectfully dedicated to the Right Honourable the Countess Irene Zichy by Johann Strauss Son".

  • Enschuldigung! Wer war "Irene", bitte?

  • Wie war Irene? So schön! Danke!

  • love
