(Question to all of you: What's your call on this?)

Marcos Ambrose, who was leading the race at the time and was on his way to his first Cup Victory, stalls the car so he can save fuel. However, this rule NASCAR has, which I believe started from the 2007 Kansas Cup race, says that you must reduce their speed to a cautious pace, maintain their respective track position. Marcos ends up in 7th, giving the lead, and the win to Jimmie Johnson.

Credit goes to NASCAR and TNT.

  • Inconsistency....

All I have to say is Greg Biffle running out of gas leading Jeff Gordon and Jeff and 2 others pass him coming to the Checkered and Biffle gets the win still????

    Total bullcrap!

  • @siriusxm89 it was implemented after Dale Jr.'s fuel controversy at talladega in 2003 in the busch race

  • @nascarsignore the rule to maintain speed was implemented 3 years ago not 7

  • my call, is, that marcos was gulity of breaking a 7 year old rule. he should kno the rule

  • @NrdsWthGns What about today? Did NASCAR pay Burton to stay out? What's your latest stupid conspiracy theory?

  • @day500champ08 It's not his fault he's too damned good for his own good.

  • @day500champ08 Johnson benefits from stuff like this because he puts himself in position to. If he wasn't as good as what people say he is, he wouldn't be in second, in position to take advantage of a competitor's mistake. Does he drive the car sideways like a wildman like Kyle Busch? No, but he's SMART. Knaus is SMART. They have excellent backing from HMS. He's won 51 races now. /51/. Do you think nascar has handed him all of them, then? Do you not think he can win on his own?

  • @weaverracing96 When the pitroad speed is scored electronically and it is right there set in stone with no judgement to be made, NASCAR cannot dictate who and who they don't penalize. It is there for everyone to see electronically. Not only that, but you could even visually see Jimmie speed out of his pit box, and then slow down on pitroad.

  • @weaverracing96 That should not matter, the rulebook states that you need to maintain pace speed. And it specifically states to never pass the pacecar unless waved around for a lap.

The fact that NASCAR can leave the rule so widely interpreted by saying "Biffle only almost stopped, and Ambrose DID stop"... That is a joke in itself.

NASCAR is tearing this sport apart with these shotty calls and when they do and don't enforce rules. It is wrong to leave it open for them to make a judgement call

  • @day500champ08 And don't even compare Earnhardt and Gordon to Johnson. They EARNED everything they got. They had good competition from each other and guys like Ricky Rudd and Mark Martin. Where has Johnson's competition for his championship years? At least teams are finally catching back up, it's time he was dethrowned.
