On August 19, 2011 Ken & myself ventured in the only river that I have went down that flowed North instead of South. So should I say that we went up the river instead of down. The Loxahatchee flows North till it empties out into the Atlantic Ocean at Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Jupiter. Along the way we saw and videoed an alligator resting, turtles sunning and a bird trying to get a snail out of his shell. Anyway, I used the Kodak Hi Def PlaySport to capture all the video with little or no zoom.

While we are on the subject, about 10 years ago I bought a Canon XL1(s) video camera. Spent over $2,000 for the just the camera. This Kodak PlaySport beats just about everything compared to the Canon except for looks and zoom capabilities. And the price, online is $89.00 The XL1 looks impressive but is well outdated. Hi Def has gone way down. So throw that 8mm, Hi8 or VHS-C away and get what will not brake the bank. Just think of the memories you will have to look back on. And storage, you put them on a hard drive. Windows XP comes with Windows Movie Maker, ample enough power to spit out a good video. FYI, Windows 7 no longer supplies you with the movie maker program.

The ride on the Loxahatchee River was relaxing and to do this in a kayak versus a canoe was an enjoyable trip. If you've never kayaked, I would suggest you do so. Rent one first. After that you too will most likely long to have your very own.
