  • Ciaran Hinds, the actor who plays Caesar, has a speech impediment in real life, caused by cancer of the mouth in his 30s. He thought he would never be able to get a part again but he got a break from an understanding director and now the way he talks is part of his persona. You can hear the impediment of his tongue in this speech scene, which seems ironically effective for Caesar who was some kind of epileptic. His charismatic acting putting across authority is what really carries it though.

  • one of the greatest speeches ever! imo

whoever wrote it for the series has real writing talent.

  • @101andrewj the Republic would have fallen regardless, Caesar managed to preserve Rome for another 300 years, you can hardly attribute the Republic's destruction to Caesar alone, Marius, Sulla, the Gracchi, the First Triumvirate, Pompey, Caesar, Antoney and Augustus, even the Senate and People of Rome itself, the Republic couldnt sustain itself any longer

  • @101andrewj More like a great man that single handedly gave birth to the empire and Augustus, arguably the greatest ruler Rome had ever seen.

  • @PersonalityDeficit87 a great man who single handedly destroyed the greatest republic in history

  • @101andrewj Tyrant, shrymant. He was a great man, regardless.

  • @DonnyaLaysen i have too, and he was a tyrant

  • @101andrewj that is only youre mind. i read many about caesar. i am sure you NOT

  • this show makes caesar look like the good guy, but in reality, he was not

  • @spartandroog Same guy who wrote the dialogs for Game Of Thrones

  • Rome was a complicated mixture of aristocratic landowner republic like the early USA and block voting by all citizens skewed so the rich had most blocks. By this time what worked for a city did not work for an empire and individuals had too long controlled the state for their own ends.

  • Julius Ceasar one of the greatest men to ever live brought to life through this series no matter how brief it was to tell his story
