CNN asks a Temple University mathematics professor how much $1 trillion actually is. The story notes Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell is correct when he says that if you spent $1 million per day starting in the year 0, you still would not have spent $1 trillion by 2009.

  • @galatix27 I wanted a realistic way to visualize a huge amount of money. I way where the human mind could almost comprehend it.

  • Does she know that she just repeated the guy when it came to that "other tidbit" at the end? John Paulos had specifically said that fact at 1:03. Someone wasn't paying attention when they wrote that.

...When they wrote that 2 and a half years ago. Oh dear this is old.

  • @mindprism Did... Did you figure that out yourself? And if so, why?

  • 1:43 ... read the news headline at the bottom..

  • what's wrong with dude's hair?

  • lol :42 do you need a noted mathematician to do dimensional analysis? 365.25 x 2010x 1,000,000 hey can you guys get me on the news now?!?! Why do we even bother having schools :(

  • The gross national product is 12*10^12 dollars or 1.2*10^13. Ehhh. a trillion feels so big.

  • continued- As we pull the rug out from under the dollar, our 20 Trillion Dollar national debt will seem like "chump change" in 20 years or so. I was planning on retiring on a half million dollars in good ole Savings Bonds. In 10 years when I retire that will be worth squat. By wiping out our national debt we are also punishing those of us stupid enough to save bonds and other "safe" things like cash under your mattress. The dollar ain't gonna be worth a nickel in 20 years, I'd bet on it..
