I have been curious about receiving OTA (over the air) free TV signals in the Toronto area and finally decided to give it a try. I bought a $35 HDTV antenna and thought I would need to mount it up on my roof (yikes - my roof is very steep), buy a preamp to pick up Buffalo stations, spend a lot of time carefully aiming it etc. But I was pleasantly surprised with my quick test of the antenna in the living room. I ended up placing the antenna up in the attic, eyeballed it toward Toronto and I'm now pulling in 35 local analog and digital/HDTV channels! The OTA HD picture quality is superior to cable or satellite because the signal is not compressed. If you live in the GTA and would like free SD and HD channels, stick a UHF/HDTV antenna and some RG6 cabling in your attic, connect it to your HDTV and point it at the CN Tower!

  • Hello, I live in Pickering and I really can't afford Rogers cable anymore and I need to buy an antenna.

Please tell me, how much did you pay for this antenna? and also where did u buy it from? Do you face your antenna facing the cn tower or buffalo? and finally do u Also do u get FOX? Thanks, your reply is greatly appreciated.

  • @AOGIJO So sorry for the late reply. I rarely check this account. I paid about $35 for the antenna at the Pickering Markets flea market. I also bought sufficient RG6 coax cable to reach from the attic to the TV. I aimed the antenna about half way between Toronto and Buffalo. Yes, I get FOX WUTV 29 HD and SD.

  • love having the american channels! screw canadian tv

  • @AOGIJO

I can do the installation for you - $200

  • good beat

  • what's that song?

  • @yodashqdotcom If your HD TV has "ATSC" or "DTV" then no extra receiver required! Just hook in the Coax from the Antenna directly to your TV and then do a channel scan.

  • don't you need a 150 dollar receiver as well?
