008's appearance is actually normal for how they drew Black people in comics and cartoons back then this was normal until the late 70's or 80's when they took on a more proper standard

  • Yeha about that it was probably due to cultural ignorance, I doubt Ishinomori had racist intentions in this, the character is a well developed one and is actually a serious character and not even an American., and the message was one of peace, if anything it was due to him using American art styles... so yeah.

    Times have changed.

  • The funny thing is of the three most stereotypical ones, 5 6 and 8 when they remade the show 8 was the only one that got updated by which I mean they made his lips normal sized but 6 still has squinted eyes and 5 still always has war paint on. funny to me and I'm native american

  • ZELO ZELO NEIN!

  • @Accessoftheblue and this is the only anime to raise the issue of discrimination of Native Americans (No.5 can't find job because of his race). AND It's in 60s.

  • am I the only one that thinks Joe looks a bit like Astro Boy? X3

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA GREAT BRITAIN IS AMAZING AS A BABY. HOLY SHIT.

  • This is by the same creator of Kamen Rider!

  • so oooooold lol

  • I was watching the remake and I saw this and I cant get over how funny this version is becuase of the diffarences XD

  • Oh wow!! this is old but damn! u cant beat the classics!:D

  • @Eoinposse Anime goes as far back to the 1950's. Manga even further, so yeah, it's not a new thing. Though you could mistake them as american cartoons since that's what they looked like back then.
