  • Such a dreadful old siren those two tones are! A little unorganized out of the start there too. That pumper should have been retired in the early 70's!

  • The truck wasnt built till the mid 80's so they would struggle to put it into retirement in the 70's

  • isnt that a Dennis RS?

  • No its actually a Dennis DS.

  • Nice.

What was this type of vehicle for?

  • It was a local authority appliance used by the armed forces during the fire strikes

  • @wausau47 We'll expect you in Portsmouth Harbour on monday to take out HMS Dauntless shall we? Let's see how long it takes you to get her out not being familiar with a vehicle. Idiot.

  • Watching these navy guys trying to figth a fire, god help us,3 or 4 young sailors, and some warrant officer standing there shouting orders,,total balls up...the wholetime firefirghters at ym local station turned out to the same fire as the navy did,,simply because when the navy turned up ,they were crap,,and the fire station, thankfuly ,was only 5 minutes round the corner.the wholetime crew jumped off their seats dropped their placards and turned out 2 pumps.

  • Research the real purpose of the Goddesses. But they came into there own during the firemans strike.I was onboard Royal Navy .Glad to assist London. If shit happens there are enough pumps to get water from Manchester to London.Don't decry your reserves.John. RNl

  • i remember the green goddesses at fareham ,based at hms collingwood during the 2004 (i think ) strikes, Jesus ,i lobe our british armed services, but the navy guys should stick to driving ships and boats, warrant officers at the scene of an incident barking order instead of getting their hands dirty,,Thank god for the retained crews

  • Apart from everyone being tools when commenting. Did you see or have you ever been there before? The angle on which a car drives in and out is a nightmare, nevermind an appliance! And going slow is better than taking someones life by blitzing out into a main road. :/

  • top guys for covering even tho they appear new / nervous to it all

  • took em long enough to turn out ..they should of tried starting the dennis before putting the two tones on ..scabs...

  • @DoTheShuffaloShake not only brits im from new zealand and love the old 2 tones i wish they would use them over here

  • I agree that the 2tones need to be brought back in, theyre really effective for city streets/busy areas, much more effective than most american sirens!

  • @407pilot Nah, we all realise we need our sirens to be all americanish, but we still think the two tone is just as effective for our big'uns. On a police car it's be shit and on an ambulance it'd deafen the crew.
