[Spaceship Lounge (Clan Greco)] A flock of Common Mergansers from mid-July at Allegheny River. Before floating downstream, the Goosanders, including juveniles, are seen to dart about upstream, cooling off by rinsing feathers; or maybe it's just 'swimming and diving practice'!

I loved watching them reverse direction:) I also enjoyed when they all put their heads into the water at the same time:D Great selection of music as well!

@seahue Thanks! I had recently 'found' again some flocks of Goosanders and am also amazed to see them in their 'quick rinse-routine' after landing , for example. It is similar to the darting and diving as here but usually it is displayed 'one-duck-at-a-time', (sometimes including somersaults!) in contrast to the 'unison' here that you (and dacman17 below:) have mentioned...

Thanks for your input! I like watching Common Mergansers very much, and locating the flocks have been a challenge to me since these July clips; though it seems I'm seeing them flying in for a landing more recently near nightfall as I'm heading home: When Spring began, it was the morning when I'd come across the smaller family units, with the ducklings swimming, even as here, very Fast; so, too, do they fly!
