Tina Turner, there is no substitute. Aretha, Janis Joplin, nothing comes close!

"Yeah I hit her, but I didn't hit her more than the average guy beats his wife...If she says I abused her, maybe I did... Sure, I've slapped Tina... There have been times when I punched her to the ground without thinking. But I have never beat her." direct quote from Ike. and why is there necessarily "hours of prodding and yapping that lead up to it?" this isn't always the case (though it might be here). still does not excuse it. and he doesn't think he beat her - doesn't mean he didn't.

how is it not necessarily worse? physical stuff is terrifying. and i agree that verbal abuse and physical abuse, depending on their extents, are equally awful, but how can you excuse that kind of retaliation? i don't think that nagging and pushing supposedly all his buttons is an excuse to hit someone. how is that an eye for an eye?

Don't act like 1 slap in the face is worse than the 3 preceding hours of torturous nagging while he tries to ignore her, walks away& leaves, but she follows him round everywhere, pushing ALL his buttons, dredging up 25 years' worth of irrelevant bullshit, insulting him, slapping him, incessant verbal berating...

Now, you feminazis are hypocrites. Words are weapons & verbal abuse just as imp't but only when done by a man according to you.

Otherwise, 3 hours of feminine verbal diarrhea > 1 slap

Any man will tell you we prefer our way of handling conflict. It takes a LOT to get us riled up (assuming no alcohol) so we physically explode with a punch, due to our testosterone. 2 guys punch each other, then feel guilty about the non-premeditated hit, make things right, have a beer & begin small talk. By the next day, we've TRULY forgotten (not at all like women; we delete all references & never speak or think of it or let it affect us again). Men also don't nag or intentionally push buttons

Firstly, it's an ACCUSATION and NOT a fact. There is also not Ike's version and every recounted tale will ALWAYS be told differently by each taler.

Also, it was a different generation & time back then; hitting children at school for misbehaving was commonplace & socially acceptable. Actions must be viewed within those confines.

Also, women act blameless if the man slaps them but ignore the hours of prodding & yapping that lead up to it. Men process confrontation differently - women nag/men hit
