The logo was created for the network by freelance graphic arts designer Martin J. Weber (who died in 2007 at the age of 102), and was used at the end of many of NBC's live programs at the time.

Yes the melody is Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay, but they wrote lyrics "It's Howdy Doody Time!" to use on the program.

This was taken from (I believe) The NBC 10th anniversary special. It stars Howdy Doody. This awesome 1949 piano clip is good. But can anyone tell me what the song is?

@RQBtv "Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay", made popular by Lottie Collins in the 1890s. Clip is from an episode of "Howdy Doody" on that DVD release.
