Episode 10: The Perfect Beat. Interesting documentary on old school hip hop. Featuring artists such as Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa, Run DMC, The Beastie Boys, NWA, Public Enemy, De La Soul...the next part of the documentary was about electronic-techno, and I don't have it, nor do I want to have it, so don't ask.

  • part 6 sounds like itll talk about techno... derrick may and stuff...

    its really all connected...

ive always dreamt of some kind of synthesis of all genres thru one long-ass documentary spanning from the beginnings of eastern and western musical traditions, meeting of the two thru blues, jazz and rock, that whole white vs black duality between similar genres.. then this documentary, then detroit techno, with house in parallel somewhere.. u know... so people could appreciate it all..

  • Is there a part 6?

see all

  • @fuggybootnling wow ill def try to go and cop that

  • Anyone that wants to know more about hip hop should check out KRS one. He's given some lectures and stuff explaining more in detail about what hip hop is, getting into the meat of hip hop, not just skimming the surface with history (not that this is a bad documentary, just introductory).

  • I want to see part 6! All i heard was Derrick May in the last secs :)

  • how does this not have millions of views?? so many people listen to hip hop/rap/whateveruwannacallit and dont want to know how it all started?cmon now. thanks for posting this man. is there another part or even the rest of this music docomentary? if so please post man. thanks for the other vids!

  • @neopandorex2 That's exactly right - this doc is actually the last part of a series on the history of Rock n' Roll based on an absolutely amazing book called "Rock and Roll: An Unruly History" that came out in 1995. As I recall (it's been YEARS since I saw it) they cover the house scene in Detroit, New York, and then about electronica by interviewing Alex Patterson from The Orb. I wish I could find the other nine parts of this doc - SUCH good stuff!!

  • @justlinkerbeats If you want it, you can have it. I'm not postin it though. Weighs a tonne.

  • @MOLYBDENUM23 Sell it to me
