And so this hack writes in order to receive sympathy, understanding, and money? If he were a truly serious writer and not a hack, he would have continued to write "transgressive fiction," regardless of whether or not it would have been published by a mainstream press. He never did write "transgressively" in the first place, incidentally.

This is one of the few cases where I think that I actually liked the movie better than the book. The movie did follow the book very closely so I really think they're about even.
