First of all, yes I realize I could have moved someplace sheltered and survived. This isn't about what I could have done to survive. This is why I should have survived regardless.
Issues highlighted in this video: 1. Infantry vs vehicle render range. They can see AND lock onto me, but I cannot see them. 2. Ridiculous positioning. They are on a cliff completely inaccessible from our location. Yes, we could flank them. Yes, we could get air. However, given they have someone watching their flank and have 2-3 bursters standing by, neither would be effective. This isn't so much a primary issue here, but it is extremely related to how campable the canyon warpgate is, which is something else that needs to be fixed. 3. The one that REALLY annoys me. I'm sitting inside a gate shield. An activated gate shield. Yet I am being constantly locked on by multiple people who are not only firing rockets, but hitting me with them. The gate shield SHOULD be blocking these, but they are not. I could move the mag, but I shouldn't have to. This is one of the biggest issues with render range I can think of. Not only is armor outranged by infantry in general (which in itself is stupid), but now apparently not even shields can keep tanks safe. In this case, it is just a magrider. But think of the potential of sniping the sundies that people so often place inside their base's gate shields in order to give a forward spawn. It would be a simple matter to position yourself in the "butter spot" to not render the gate shield, but render the sundy, allowing the sundy to be destroyed, and possibly crippling the defending team. Please, SOE, make gate shields render at vehicle distance. Or even if they don't render, make them at least still effective. This is ridiculous.
