This animation shows a dancing girl removing her coat. We project light onto a clear film, which converts the wavelength of the light from blu ray to a normal visible blue. Without the special nanoparticles on the film, the projected light would go right through the film, since it is clear.
We've done this demo without using a UV-blocking layer on the film so the film is clearly visible, while for most applications we include UV blocking, so the film will not light up with a blue tint from any ambient light as you see here.
This technology can be used to make interesting images to bring retail or other environments to like with exciting animations. Also, it can be used to produce eye-catching advertising and messaging, on storefront windows and elsewhere. Finally, using smaller projectors, this technology can be used for heads up displays.
