American citizens are being harrassed, threatened and worse...and all this for exercising their 1st Amendment Rights as American citizens, that is not what America is about. You should never feel fear to vote your conscience, I can hear the founding fathers are rolling over in their graves...it was not the Mormon Church and was not any one church or group that voted for proposition 8. In actual fact, it was the majority of Californians. Mormons are simply an easy target. I say that if no on prop 8 supporters want to exercise hate why not attack every single church in California or more to the point, why not attack over half the population fo the state or everyone who simply does not agree with their lifestyle?
I find it very ironic when so many with this lifestyle have been mistreated by others that they would attack someone else's rights and freedoms and by any one individual or groups actions it speaks about their character and shows their true colors. I have seen none of this behavior from Mormons towards homosexuals personally and yet have found they have done nothing wrong in expressing their own views, the people of California voted under no force and did so of their own conscience as it should be. Had it not been voted in, the members of the Church would simply have been very disappointed and done what that could to continue to support traditional marriage, they would never have attacked people, threatened them, staged protests and demonstrations they would have respectfully moved on.
However, I think it is beautiful to see people of all faiths or none uniting over the love of family and the defintion of marriage = one man + one woman, God bless America and the freedoms we all yet enjoy, remember that all it takes to lose your freedom is for people of good conscience to remain silent, to paraphrase one of our most vocal founding fathers, even Thomas Jefferson.
ADL issued the following statement:
"Although we strongly opposed Proposition 8, its passage does not justify the defacement and destruction of property. We urge Californians to channel their frustration and disappointment in productive and responsible ways to work towards full equality for all Americans. To place anyone in fear of threat to their houses of worship or their personal security because they have expressed deeply held religious views is contrary to everything this nation represents. Our Constitution's First Amendment protects freedom of speech, freedom of assembly and freedom of religion for all of us."
The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.

Yay Prop 8!
I got a lot of support when I was out stumping for 'Yes on Prop 8'.
I'm a little disgusted with the protests. You lost - got over it. Prop 8 supporters wouldn't have been out there kicking and screaming and vandalizing things just because they didn't get their way.
Time to face up to the facts Prop 8 opponents. Americans think marriage should be defined as between a man and a woman, not a 'man and a man' or a 'man and a dog'.

Those in the no on prop8 crowd are guilty of the same types of actions they accuse others of.

Yes it is silly to believe that all Californians were forced to vote simply because the Mormons shared their views that they supported traditional marriage.
It is simply a last ditch effort and a human need to blame something or someone when things don't go their way so to speak.
We have, do and always will have a love for all other people. We may not agree with their lifestyle but have always shown respect for others and followed the democratic process.

It was the majority of Californians, not churches who forced anyone to vote how they did. That is the democratic process, that is America and if those who didn't win don't agree let them continue to show the same respect to others they expect to receive.
As many problems as we may have in the United States it is still a wonderful country if only each one of us will stand up for our freedoms otherwise we will certainly lose them. God bless.

It is certainly ironic that people against the prop would abuse the supporters like they have. Especially considering a large majority of the gay population is striving to end abuse against their community.

Fact: Mormons were never "required" or "forced" to vote for proposition 8.
Fact: it was the black vote in California that was most responsible for passing Prop 8.(70% of black voters voted to define marriage as being one man-one woman only).I don't notice these protesters starting trouble in THOSE neighborhoods. I wonder why.....?
(...and they always seem to challenge every religion...except the Muslims! Again....I wonder why?)
