This audio wasw recorded from my back bedroom window at my parents' house, about a quarter mile away from this siren. This siren is a little sickly in this recording, probably due to worn brushes. The high pitched Thunderbolt heard is the old Kerrick Elementary School Thunderbolt, and the low pitched one is the old PRP VFD #1 Thunderbolt. The Trunnel Thunderbolt was taken down and replaced with another Thunderbolt in late 2005, and the replacement siren was moved to Doss High School, which is next door to Trunnel Elementary School. The other two Thunderbolts were also recently replaced with restored Thunderbolts. This video is copyright ©2010, LouisvilleTorn8o. Do not repost this video without my permission.

  • God I miss that wind down!

  • @Trocks797 I do too...That's why I was hoping that what I heard about Westpoint having a Tbolt was true. Do you know of any nearby towns that still have Tbolts? I'd like to get a stereo recording of one or two with the old wind-down. If I ever get one of my own, it will have the old wind-down, even if it's on the city's system.

  • This siren can be seen in google earth Historical Imagery button.

Was this siren also platform mounted?

  • @97Siren I don't know much about this siren other than that it probably had worn brushes, and that it used to be at Trunnel School until they took it down in late 2005, replaced it, and moved the replacement Tbolt to Doss High School. I don't even know if the old siren was a 1000T or a 1003, but I'm assuming it was a 1000T. I'll have to ask around to see if the old one was platform mounted, and whether the replacement Tbolt uses the old Trunnel blower.

  • @LouisvilleTorn8o I just discovered that that this was a 1003 and it was platform mounted. If you have google earth 7., Go to the former siren spot, then click the historical imagery button, then go back to 12/31/02 and the siren should be there.

  • @Siren1000T1 Heh, thats the year I was born!

  • sounds like a sick tbolt :(

  • 1995? Wow that's the year I became a Kindergartener.

  • have you seen my video of the Mendon, MI Thunderbolt? sounds similar to this with the pitch goin up and down
