@roliver31483 I think we just have to settle for fanfiction as to why there is a Goblin King. Bowie is the only person to play Jareth and he's in his sixties. Story suggestion and it isn't mine - A Necessary Deception by Twisted Logic. Best Laby story out there. It would answer a lot of your questions and it is very different.

I've read A necessary Deception and it was brilliant there are a lot of great fanfiction stories for Labyrinth and if you really thoroughly analyse the move itself there are many hints to a subplot and an insight into Jareth I believe he loved her and was never really going to harm her when you think about it he could have left her in the oubliette or forcibly had her friends kept from her during or after her run through the labyrinth and personally I do agree no 1 could replace David as Jareth
