Occupy Everything and Liberate Oakland March
October 22, 2011

Occupy Oakland started on October 11th and people having being camping out in Oscar Grant Plaza (Formerly Frank Ogawa Plaza) since then. On October 20th, they received an eviction notice from the city of Oakland. This is the first "official" Occupy Oakland action.

@Elin48 It was a great march and I'm glad so many people came out! I know the F@ck the Police rhetoric is problematic. But people are frustrated, especially in Oakland where the OPD have a federal injunction against them for civil rights abuses. But I love your sentiments Elin48. This movement feels so hopeful because it's so inclusive and hopefully we can get everyone on board. Like the Marines in NYC!

I was there and marching with a banner. Loved it...loved every part of this video except I have to wince every time I hear the words F_ _ K the police. I know there are those who do bad, but they are also part of the 99%. I want the police to turn and join Occupy just as they turned and joined the million strong in Venezuela after Hugo Chavez was kidnapped, and as they joined those in Egypt's revolution. I would have posted this on my facebook if those words were not included in your video.

I have a decent job and no college education. I did however cut my hair, removed all piercings, covered all tattoos and was able to pass a drug test to get in the door at a fairly entry-level position. Many years later, I'm doing pretty good. Perhaps some of the upset folks should give that a try?

@goarmy1d Well, in their defense they ARE the 99%. In the situation where there's a greater number of people it's expected some will act out of turn. I personally found I couldn't judge them. I supposed it's one of those things one didn't or might not understand until it's happened to them as well.

Hey! Lets make signs from supplies we bought from stores! (capitalism) and lets go invade a business(illegal? and wrong) lets yell about things we dont fully understand! (ignorant) lets trash the streets and break things( like really?)...now lets go eat at a fast food place or go to the store (capitalism). lets record our "movement" with our phones and cameras (capitalism) and upload them on youtube (capitalism) and lets complain cause we werent smart enough to find a way to get a good job!
