He isn't a resident of Asheville. He was promoting his radio show. An elected official ordered him to stop after making him aware of the law he KNEW he was breaking..
You just fell for a publicity stunt because of your own ignorance of basic procedure. Matt knew it. That's why he did it. HE knew that ignorant folks such as yourself would think this was 'dictatorial' or some other alex joneism.

Read this entire post before whining:
The Mayor was correct in stopping Matt. The public comment period is for CITIZENS of ASHEVILLE to address the ASHEVILLE city council. Matt knows this, AND is NOT a citizen of Asheville. You people need to shut your mouths, get an education, deal with reality and GROW UP. YOU are the problem with society; you think as long as YOU want to hear something it must be heard, but have no problem censoring someone else.

Heaven forbid anyone that doesn't share the Mayor's care not, do nothing attitude should speak up and hold her accountable for her lack of leadership and principles! You go, Matt Mittan! We love you!
