Bird-man Hijacks Webb Simpson's US Open Award Ceremony

Golf fans are not known for their wild costumes and larrikin behaviour but one spectator has reversed the stereotype by interrupting a US Open broadcast while dressed as a bird and making high-pitched squawking noises.

The bizarre display took place on Sunday afternoon at San Francisco's Olympic Club after Webb Simpson had won the coveted trophy.

As the golfer was interviewed by a journalist the 'bird'-man' positioned himself directly in front of the media throng.

Without hesitation the man began to squawk while staring off into space.

He managed to get out three convincing calls before he was yanked out of shot by an official.

"There's always something to spice matters up," the interviewer said.
